Welcome to five minute friday where we stretch our writing muscles and brains by doing five minutes of free writing on one specific topic, and get to know other bloggers in the process. This is one of my favorite places on the web, and I’m so excited to write and read about this weeks topic: Simplify.
My goal this year. My word for this year. My heart right now.
A goal to make less into more. To take more and make it less. To cut back in places that I over do. To improve in places I under achieve. To visualize where I want to be at the end of the year and make every choice count.
It means being selective in what I try to achieve, innovative in using things and time that I have to problem solve and buy less, and break down big goals into smaller, manageable, and measurable goals with spreadsheets to keep focused and prevent distraction.
Getting ready to step back, to simplify, slow down, focus, can be hefty. It can involve creating new systems, spreadsheets, calendars, gathering info, purging unnecessary things, and on and on. Simplifying can be complicated. Like deep cleaning a bedroom, the room must first become trashed before looking spectacular. The trick is sticking with it, trusting the process, one step, one item at a time.
The first few weeks of the year have been that for me, but I think I’m finally getting there, I’ve got my faith, food, water, workout and writing goals nailed down, and taped to my bedroom door.
How about you? Where are you in the simplify process? Have things gotten messier and more complicated in preparation for what’s next?
